nothing fancy there, could be the Quicktime plugin, what version of the quicktime plugin are you using? (See in about:plugins, you should view something like QuickTime Plug-in 7.1.5)

Comment 2

about:config shows "plugin.scan.Quicktime default string 5.0"

Comment 3

I take that back; the above comment applies to my Thunderbird Quicktime plugin -- oops.

Firefox shows "QuickTime Plug-in 7.1.6" in about:plugins.

Comment 4

i had many crashes with quicktime 7.1.6 and i had reverted to 7.1.5, so the problem could be in that version of the plugin, even if i had crashes on open, not on close. Are you using official Quicktime or Quicktime Alternative?

Do you crash on other pages with quicktime movies? (for example http://www.apple.com/iphone/usingiphone/activation_medium.html)

Comment 5

I am using Quicktime Alternative.

However, the problem persists when the 7.1.6 plugin is replaced with the 7.1.5 or 7.2 plugins.

Removing the Quicktime plugin altogether ends the problem.

if you're using QT alternative 1.81 you should try to downgrade to 1.80, that is working fine

Have newest versions of Foxfire and Quicktime. Any QT video at any site I click causes Foxfire to crash. There is no way to know in advance whether a video is QT or not. Have experience half-dozen or more crashes in an hour using Youtube and formal sites -- intermixed with successful retrievals of other videos on the same sites.

Whiteboard: [closeme 2010-09-15]
Closing since now after whiteboard closeme date and no reply to last two comments.

Please reopen/comment with further info, if you still see this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later, with a clean profile and the latest version of the plugin.

If you wish, you can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later:
