I cannot get Firefox to open a local file at the position of a named anchor from a shell command or a command line, e.g.

file:///C:/folder/filename.htm#anchorname


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. select local html file on your system with anchors
2. open command line
3. file:///C:/folder/filename.htm#anchorname
Actual Results:  
file always opens at top

Expected Results:  
file should open at anchor

this was discussed in:

with the moderators recommandation "You can file an enhancement bug".

FF3 should NOT claim the file is not found! Any ambiguities concerning tools.html#1 being a file with extension html#1 or #1 being an anchor could be resolved by:
1. Look for the file tools.html#1. If found open it at the top. Exit.
2. If file tools.html#1 is not found look for file tools.html. If found look for anchor 1. If found open browser there. If anchor 1 is not found open at top. Exit.
3. If nothing found: report error.

Attachment: Very similar bug still exists for legacy apps.

There is still a bug in command line parsing when the command line is created by legacy apps; this bug does not exhibit in internet explorer.

Just before Firefox 3.0, some irresponsible person made a half-baked change to command-line processing that resulted in all command line arguments being disabled when running on Windows.  I complained about it at the time in bug 355889 comment 12, and was told to shut up or else (see later comments in that bug).

It may be time to abandon Mozilla if the project is owned by that kind of bullies.

I am running some tests in selenium IDE, even with Selenium RC. Until Firefox 17 it works fine. Now with Firefox 31 i got the problem mentioned below.
I am trying to open a file, which is located on local-drive (example:  myfile.html).

Environment is Firefox browser version 31.0 with plugin Selenium -IDE 2.5.0.

When i use the command “open     file:///C:/myfile.html” within Selenium-IDE it gives me an error message “[error] Unexpected Exception: Error: Access to 'file:///C:/myfile.html' from script denied.”

Steps i have already tried:

Changing “security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy” to FALSE (about:config) doesn’t help no matter is it set to TRUE or even FALSE.

Can anyone please help :-(
