Small letters are unaffected. capital letters and pnctuation are up the shoot., and the cursor position is behind where the actual text should be. Here are threee exclamation marks: !!! Here are some smileys: :) :-) :D Here are the ten digits: 1234567890 Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Only occured after installing this week's automatic update. The problem is present on every kind of text field on every page. I am not using a theme. Please view the URL I entered above to see screenshots of the phenomenon.
Since the digits display fine in your submitted bug report, I'm guessing this is a font problem rather than a character-encoding problem. And since the problem affects both <textarea>s and View Source, I suspect your monospace font setting got screwed up. What's your current setting for the default monospace font? (Go to Tools > Options, select the "Content" panel, then click the "Advanced..." button in the Fonts section.) Does changing it to something normal like Courier or Courier New fix the problem? Thanks for including screenshots, that helped a lot.
Thanks Jesse, that was it! The update must have done something to the monospace font setting. I'm all cleared up now :)

This isn't the first "font settings changing mysteriously" report I've seen, but I can't remember where I saw the other one.
