1) Drag a favicon to the bookmarks menu
2) Menu does not invoke
3) try and drop the favicon to the bookmarks menu
4) Error dialog pops up, ASSERT: container must be opened when _rebuild is called

Eventually the bookmark was added after trying a few times and getting some funky behavior inbetween (like the bookmarks menu doubling the whole menu inside itself)...weird.

This happened right after a restart and i tried the steps listed in comment 0, the bookmarks menu came up along with the assert failed dialog and this is what the menu looked like.

I see the same problem with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a8pre) Gecko/2007092105 Minefield/3.0a8pre.

I am unable to make a folder open by waiting a long time, though.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
