with html tag onmouseover, mouse cursor style does not switch to 'hand' when hovering over target area. Does not happen with IE, Opera, Safari.

Actually I see the same on the trunk. Opera 9.23 and IE6 both show the hand.

Try this.style.cursor='pointer'
From a bit of googling (great resource, btw ;>) it looks like 'hand' is an IEism.
