Description

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6

Using version 2.0.0.6. I click the "block pop-up windows" box and pop-ups are blocked. But when I get out of firefox and get back in, the box is no longer checked. In other words, the block pop-up windows option is not being saved.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. check the block pop-up windows box
2. exit firefox
3. start firefox
4. block pop-up windows box is no longer checked and pop-ups are allowed

Expected Results:
I expect the block pop-up windows box to remain checked after I exit firefox and re-start firefox.

Mostly caused by a line in user.js, added by McAfee Privacy Service.

I looked at some of the solutions recommended. However, my root problem remains: Why will the checkbox NOT remain checked when I leave firefox and then restart firefox?

Can you be more specific about which of the solutions you tried from http://kb.mozillazine.org/Popups_not_blocked#Other_software_disables_the_popup_blocker ?

I have a few other OS' (eg: XP home, XP pro and Server) and the block pop-up window is always "checked" or "on". Only the boxes that have MCE are affected.
This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME

Mozilla Support,
I am Mozilla Firefox ID: Inferno3408/vV3408@GMail.com
My Firefox is and has always been as up-to-date as Mozilla chooses to keep it by automatic updates for all addons, attachments, updates and what ever.

My Windows XP, SP3 is registered with MS for all automatic updates.

I have Firefox in my Windows start up sequence. No matter what I do it ALWAYS does and ALWAYS has come up with TOOLS/Options/Content/Block Pop-Up Windows unchecked.

This is years and years of a major SECURITY BREACH. This problem is NOT trivial. Please point me in a direction to look for a resolution to this problem. I can not be the only registered user of Mozilla Firefox with this problem.

Very sincerely,
Dik Hagen
