Description

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; de-AT; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070802 SeaMonkey/1.1.4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; de-AT; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070802 SeaMonkey/1.1.4

If it were possible to say: If viewing site x, allow images (cookies...) from y,
that would serve my intention much better than generally allowing contents from
y on any site.

Several pages are built utilizing images hosted on different servers (buttons
e.g.) not offering ALT descriptions and remaining nearly unusable without the
images, others offer a webcam-image that's served from elsewhere. If I set
'display images from original server only', I won't see the images I'd like to
unless I add the image server to the general whitelist.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set 'view images from original host only'
2. View a page where images (buttons, tabs) are from a different server
3. Or view a page where a webcam image is 'cited' (index on a server e.g.)
Actual Results:
The desired image(s) are not displayed.

Expected Results:
Allow displaying of the images on a page (site) where they're needed only.

As it's impossible to prove where images from the given image server are used
on other sites than the one I'm trying to read, and it's either impossible to
decide in advance whether they're needed there to read/understand the page
(site), I'd suggest to whitelist images based per site / per page.

um not sure why you posted this as a bug... it seems to me that you checked the option that only allows images from the original host and it did exactly that. if you could make it clearer what the bug is then we will try to help. if there is no bug and this is only a suggestion then this is not the place to be posting.

That's what I found how to post a suggestion or request for an enhancement.
Please look at the header 'severity' - the form for entering a new bug
comments the selection: 'Request for new feature or enhancement.' And the
option for images is beneath 'security' in the properties window.

If you think it over from the security point: On one hand I want to get
only what's on one site. There are sites built from components held on
several hosts - ok, but why should I want to download additional components
from those servers for viewing other sites where I don't need them?

Sincerely
J.

The place where I found the hint to ask for an enhancement by reporting a bug is
http://www.mozilla.org/wishlist-faq.html
If this is deferred I'll move it to the wishlist forum.
