User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla Thunderbird ver. 2.0.0.6 When we tried to send e-mail today we recived this error message on two different computers. We can not send e-mail using Thunderbird with either computer. After we updated from the earlier version we started getting the box asking for the mail server password, we didn't have this in the past. When we type in the password it come right back asking again. after a couple of times it says sending the message has failed because the connection to the smtp server has failed. no setting have been changed ,except for the update that was installed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.open Thunderbird 2.click on message 3.click on forward, and it will ask for mail server password Actual Results: a box pops up asking for mail server password ,but it will not take the password. Expected Results: accepted the password and let me send e-mails
Not a security sensitive bug. This sounds like a support request that would be better addressed using one of the resources mentioned at http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/ or http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/support/ .

I checked out the resources u recomended but found no fixes. I did notice that a LOT of ppl. seem to be having the same problem after they installed the upgrade.I changed my smtp settings to what the moderator said and it did not help.I am still getting the box asking for a mail server password. This problem is very nerve racking since I can not send ANY e-mail, unless I use my Yahoo account.
It's also possible that it's a problem on your email service provider's end. Perhaps you could try contacting them and asking them to help diagnose the issue?
I changed my outgoing server settings to not use the name and password and the problem is fixed, thanks for your help,Gavin.
