Details
We'd like to continue uploading debug symbols for the Win32 Fx200x releases to the symbol server ala bug 391114. This would be easier if I had access to spike to get at the symbols.

Jay - can you comment on this?

Due to legal concerns around allowing Breakpad devs access to any servers that have Talkback code or services, we should not give Ted direct access to spike. However, it looks like all he needs is access to the Mozilla symbols on the netapp, which are currently mounted with CIFS on spike as drive G: and according to Justin can be mounted elsewhere so that Ted can get to them. Hopefully that allows the Breakpad team to access the symbols directly so they can use them there or sync them to the Breakpad symbol store. Justin: Let us know how we can make that happen. Thanks!

Yeah, all I need is access to the symbols. I didn't realize there was other Talkback-related junk on there, and indeed I don't want or need access to that.

Summary: access to spike for Ted Mielczarek → access to talkback symbols for Ted Mielczarek

Just wanted to say that having symbols for the current FF distribution is totally transformative for people like us who are developing a complex extension. Suddenly problems that were completely intractable become more or less trivial. So I'm suffering since FF 2.0.0.7 came out and my 2.0.0.6 symbols stopped working.

This is exported using iscsi from the netapp to hal, hal I think exports it using samba/cifs to spike. We should probably be using something similar to mount it on a unix box - export using cifs and mount using samba.
The symbols are now available on dm-breakpad01 and mrapp-stage03 in /mnt/talkback/symbols/

(In reply to comment #6) > The symbols are now available on dm-breakpad01 and mrapp-stage03 in > /mnt/talkback/symbols/ Just finally got around to looking at this. Do I actually have access to those machines? And if so, where are they?

I pushed the Fx2008 symbols to stage.m.o:/tmp/firefox-2.0.0.8-symbols.tar.bz2 in case you want to use them instead.

Reopening, I still don't know how to get to these.

Upping the severity to make sure IT works with Ted to give him access. This is probably blocking a lot of community work with 2.0.0.x and extensions.

Ted, where would be best for you to be able to get at these?

I've got access to stage, but that's going to be changing soon anyway. I don't really have shell access to anything else (aside from people) that I know of.

Just an update on this, looks like you have shell access to mpt-vpn.mozilla.com, I'll have the symbols mounted there sometime tonight or tomorrow at /mnt/talkback/symbols/

Sorry for the delays, but the symbols are now mounted on mpt-vpn (LDAP login).
