When using an IMAP mailbox and NOT using the trashcan it would be nice to have an option to leave the cursor on the message when deleting it instead of moving. I raise this in relation to bug 360792 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360792

I find it a distraction to have the active message move around when I delete a message. I just want it to put the ---- delete slash through it and leave me on that message. If I want it to move I'll do it myself. Moving by detecting sort order is even more strange (but I can imagine some folks DO like this).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. setup an account on a IMAP server
2. configure the account server settings "When I delete a message:" to "Mark it as deleted"
3. delete a message and note how it jumps away from that message to the 'next' one
Actual Results:
The cursor moves from the deleted message to the 'next' one based on preferences

Expected Results:
I'd rather it have an option to see that I'm NOT using either the "Move it to the Trash folder" or the "Remove it immediately" options and simply stay on the message itself. I can understand why it would move if I were using the trashcan or immediate deletion options.

Simply stay on the deleted message.
Similar to bug 65823, bug 354582 is also similar .
OS: Linux → All
Hardware: PC → All

We're rebuilding the message thread from scratch with a new treelistbox, which will take care of handling the selection and focus correctly, moving it only if the selected message is actually deleted.
Marking this as wontfix since it soon won't be valid anymore.
