There are probably going to be lots of occurrences where people only want to track up to a particular *day* in their date field, or up to a particular hour or minute. (In fact, minute would probably be the most people would want to track.)

So, we should have an option that specifies the precision that a date is stored and displayed with. 

Ideally, this should also limit the precision of the displayed calendar widget, if, for example, we limit things to just a month, just a year, or just a day.
The Date/Time cf allows you to use the calendar widget to browse the date. Later when it displays this it has the Date 0:00 as the value. Instead of the time being represented as 0:00 it would be greate if it could show the exact time on that particular day. 

If this is not possible it would be nice if we could just have the date and remove the 0:00 from the field.

I am seeing this on 3.2rc1.
