when saving drafts to gmail, nothing gets saved.

I'm using version 2.0.0.7pre (20070921) and I've got a gmail account. in my gmail settings, it is set to save drafts on the server.

when I save a message as draft, it appears to work (I don't get any errors) but the message is not saved anywhere.

I've configured this account to use the global inbox, so there isn't a local sent, draft or trash folder for this account.

note, I may have not set it up originally as a global inbox, but switched it use that later.

that appears to be what I did, so morphing this bug.
Summary: when saving drafts to gmail, nothing gets saved → after converting pop account to use global inbox, drafts/templates/sent folder account prefs point to non-existant folders, those actions silently fail
What is set in "Copies&Folders" of Account Settings of the account(not pseudo account of "Local Folders") after change to "Use Global Inbox"?
Draft mail was saved in hidden Drafts folder of the hidden account, wasn't it?
(Enable "Show confirmation dialog when messages are saved" option)
It is same problem as Bug 313047 when opposite operation, isn't it?

When changed from "Not use Global Inbox" to "Use Global Inbox", both Tb 2.0 and latest Tb trunk(9/24 build) issued warning which says about "manual change of Sent/Drafts/Template setting is required".
Warning was not issued when you changed?
(No such warning when change to "Use Global Inbox" to "Not use Global Inbox")

> account of "Local Folders") after change to "Use Global Inbox"?

the gmail account.

> Draft mail was saved in hidden Drafts folder of the hidden account, wasn't it?

yes, it was!

> It is same problem as Bug 313047 when opposite operation, isn't it?

yes, it is the same problem in the opposite direction.

> Warning was not issued when you changed?

I just tried that, and an warning was issued. A warning may have been issued a while back when I first did this, and I may have ignored it.

I think the right fix is to morph this bug into an oppposite of bug #313047, as you pointed out.

thanks WADA!

With Tb 3, if user doesn't change Copies&Folders setting(keep pointing hidden folder), phenomenon of Bug 471344 happens(See Bug 471344 Comment #11). Similar issue can occur on Junk Settings/Junk folder too.

This seems to be the same as bug 346985.
However I can't reproduce it. When setting one account to store the inbox in another account (not local folders), the folders in Copied & Folders were all changed automatically to point to Local Folders.
So is this still happening to anyone?

Anybody able to reproduce it?

WADA, notice the warning message talks about OTHER accounts having special folders pointed to the account that is just being deferred. That is a difference to the current account (being deferred) having its special folders pointed to itself.

So I made this test:
- Account1, 2 identities, both having Drafts and Sent pointing to Account1.
- Account2, 2 identities, both having Drafts and Sent pointing to Account1.
- Now set Account1 to store to Global Inbox (Local folders).
Result:
All 4 identities had their Drafts and Sent set to Local Folders as far as I could see by visiting the account settings.
That looks correct to me.

So can anybody still reproduce this problem?
(Yes, Junk folder has this problem and will not be redirected automatically in this way. But that is being fixed in bug 536768 and bug 734034.)
