User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.7) Gecko/20070914 Firefox/2.0.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.7) Gecko/20070914 Firefox/2.0.0.7 Normally MPL, in the context of software licenses, refers to the Mozilla Public License. IT Pro has a three page article where they are referring to the new MS marketing gimmick as MPL: http://www.itpro.co.uk/features/126176/microsofts-quest-for-sharedsource-approval/page1.html http://www.itpro.co.uk/features/126176/microsofts-quest-for-sharedsource-approval/page2.html http://www.itpro.co.uk/features/126176/microsofts-quest-for-sharedsource-approval/page3.html Some days have gone by but it may not be to late to get a correction made to the article. If it is left uncorrected it will spread for a while and then pop up at intervals 3 - 9 months from now(1). There is enough confusion already.(2) Requests to the editors for corrections have more weight when coming from project members or project representatives. (l) Look at all the OpenDoc articles that spread for OpenDocument (2) Look at what happened to Vista http://www.vistasoftware.org/ as a result of not protecting its name Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Read article 2. There it is: MPL refering to MS' new marketing gimmick 3. Expected Results: MPL stays Mozilla Public License and MS-PL or something else would be used for the MS gimmick. Mistakes like this are easiest to treat before they spread. Once they're in print it takes up to a year to stomp recurrences as journalists recycle material from the vertical file without further fact checking.

Microsoft is politely using Ms-PL everywhere, so I'm not worried. I don't have time to try and sort this out, but feel free to send them an email. Gerv
Ok. Thanks. I'm *very* much relieved to hear that this is the mistake of single editor. I'll do what I can with another message.
