Nelson, does Tiki have something like this? I've managed a find a "Forums search" feature but that seems to be just a straight-up text search.

the search is a straight up text search. Filter by individual forum is already possible through the forumId parameter in the query string. It is just a matter of building the form.

Date posted - I will add this as a filter, it is quite trivial. What do you think the default or options should be?

Filter by author - I can add a filter by this if you want, but do you really need that?

For the date filter, I think

1 day
3 days
7 days
1 month
3 months
All time

would be good options, with 7 days being the default.

Yes, please add filter by author if it's not too much of a hassle. What all this is for is to help contributors find a particular piece of information that was posted on the forums. They may remember the timeframe and they may remember who posted it, so these are useful things to filter on.

When you put this in, I'd like it on a separate page, then we can include a link to it wherever.

I have changed the current search boxes to point to the forum search when in the forum section or on the forum home page.

You will have to assign the new theme mozfr.css in tiki-theme_control_sections.php to forums to see the effect (already done in support-stage for today). (If you happen to have tiki-theme_control.php set for categories, you should remove them, otherwise forums in the category will get the wrong theme)

As for the additional options, I will do them tomorrow. I think I will place them on tiki-searchindex.php where it now says "Advanced search options go here - to be done" (which appears whenever the search query is blank)

Minor usability issue. *Immediately* after doing an advanced search, if the user uses the normal search box above, it will take into account the advanced search parameters. I think this might be confusing, because later on, even though the advanced search parameters are remembered, the normal search box above reverts to the default basic behavior.
