when I start Thunderbird up, it lingers on processing the inbox/incoming mail and never retrieves any messages, but when I try to send a messa while it is still "processing" it sends okay, have uninstalled re-installed many times, and have even wiped the hard drive of all traces of Thunderbird and reinstalled again and still this is happening
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.start Thunderbird
2.wait
3.get frustrated
Actual Results:

Expected Results:
same.. not retrieving messages from server, continually processing inbox/incoming mesages
retrieve mesages from the server
I have the same problem. It started today. I have Thunderbird installed on my computer at home and on two computers at work. Each computer has its own email account. Though Thunderbird has worked beautifully for over a year, today I could not retrieve any email on any of the three computers. There was a McAfee Security Suite update on all three computers this mornings. I have disabled McAfee, but I still cannot access my email with Thunderbird. I can download my email without any trouble with Outlook. Any suggestions?
I just spent an hour chatting with McAfee. Looks like something went wrong with their last update. Here is the latest:
This is a temporary issue and you will receive a update soon and after receiving the update please try to download e-mail from thunderbird.
They said the update would be available soon.

I have the same problem on both home computers but only one has McAfee. The problem may be larger than just McAfee.
looks like McAfee has a patch that works for some people... that are having the problem with McAfee
""The patch that McAfee's tech support are suggesting seems to work in most cases: http://download.mcafee.com/products/.../Eml1005_1.exe""
