Our PC computers at work are getting the following error message each time we start Firefox over the past two weeks or so:
SOFTWARE UPDATE FAILED: One or more files could not be updated. Please make sure all other applications are closed and that you have permission to modify files, and then restart Firefox to try again.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Firefox
2. Error Message pops up
3. Click to Close message
4. Firefox starts
Actual Results:
N/A
Expected Results:
N/A
The version of Firefox is 2.0.0.7. Our system administrator doesn't get the error messages under his login since he has admin rights. But when other people (without Admin rights) run Firefox, it gives them this error message. We're running Windows XP with SP2. This has been happening for about 2 weeks now.
Our LAN Administrator tried uninstalling Firefox and then reinstalling, but we still have the same problem.
I like using Firefox, but if we can't fix the problem our LAN Administrator may be forced to have us use Internet Explorer instead. Please help.
