Summary says it all. I left the PSM daemon running for two dayson my Mac OS 8.6
machine. I couldn't quit the daemon. So I rebooted the machine. The OS never
boots fully. I have had to reinstall my Mac OS installation. Clearly not
acceptable for customers who want to do any serious secure browsing. Nominating
for nsbeta2.
Severity: normal → critical

Making clear that an OS reinstall was required: not just a PSM install.

ouch.
Putting on dogfood radar. Does the system need to run 2 days? or does this
happen after several hours? I'd like to see this fixed ASAP for QA.

I don't know if running it for two days caused a memory leak that hosed the
system or if it happens when you just run it and try to quit immediately. It
would be an easy enough test to just run it and reboot. I had to do a low level
format of my hard drive after encountering this problem so the problem should be
narrowed down on a machine whose state nobody cares about.
Putting on [nsbeta2+] radar for beta2 fix.

Actually, making this dogfood+...gotta fix...difficult to go tests.

I*@#Y)$(*&_#@*$ this happened to me too.
reassigning to Bob Lord. I am going on vacation in a few days. I can't make
much more progress on these Mac Cartman bugs.

Rassigning to Patrick. Clearly "getting SSL running" will include some sort of
resolution of this problem.
Patrick: If I'm mistaken, please bounce this back to Bob Lord.
Thanks,
Jim

This doesn't seem to happen with my in-process version of Cartman.

Cannot yet verify. PSM is not presently being installed in the Mac build.
Verifying per beard's comments. Will open a new bug if this is still happening
when PSM is running on the Mac.
