If a remote calendar has an alarm, it appears at the appropriate time. If I set the calendar to read-only I cannot dismiss it. If I set the calendar to not read-only and dismiss the alarm when it appears, the alarm goes away, but the alarm re-appears when the calendar is reloaded.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a remote calendar that cannot be altered (eg from a script)
2. Include an alarm in an event
3. Dismiss the alarm when it appears
4. Reload the remote calendar
Actual Results:
The alarm re-appears each time the calendar is reloaded.

Expected Results:
The alarm should not reappear after it is dismissed once.
Do you have write access to the remote calendar? Is it possible that the remote calendar gets overwritten after you dismissed the alarm?
No. Assume the calendar is created by a script, so it is not static. What should Sunbird do with a remote calendar that it cannot put information into? What should Sunbird do with any read-only calendar that contains alarms?
The information what alarms have been snoozed or dismissed is stored in the calendar. Because this information in the calendar will be overwritten by the script the alarm fires again. This is the same behavior with read only calendars.
