User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fi; rv:1.8.1.7) Gecko/20070914 Firefox/2.0.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fi; rv:1.8.1.7) Gecko/20070914 Firefox/2.0.0.7 When mouse wheel is pushed up, in order to navigate upwards on a web page, previous page is opened. This "feature" is really annoying especially on internet forums, as it brings user back to the message editor page, after user has just submitted the message. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open any web page that doesn't fit on one page. 2.Use mouse scroll wheel to navigate up on the page. 3. Actual Results: 2.Page is navigated up according to user's intention. Expected Results: Page visited before currently open page is opened. The software shouldn't open the page that was previously viewed, as back button can be used for that purpose.

Odd. Firefox normally navigates between pages with Alt+wheel, but without any modifiers, using the wheel should scroll within the page. If you go to about:config and type "wheel" into the filter box, do you see any (mousewheel-related) prefs that have been changed from the default? (Prefs that have been changed appear in bold.)
Possibly a duplicate of bug 207665
I have the same problem with Firefox 3.0b1 (rc3) in Linux. This is a fresh install with no extensions. If I turn the scroll wheel slowly it works as expected, but with a fast scroll it goes back (scrolling up) or forward (scrolling down). There are no additional mouse movements as in bug 207665.
I should add that this is with Fedora Core 8 in VirtualBox. It may very well be a VirtualBox bug.
Hello Sakari, Just one very precise question and it relates to Jesse's question in comment #1. In about:config, what is the value for mousewheel.withnokey.action It should be 0 (default) If it is 2, then it should move back/forward in history. http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries#Mousewheel..2A Also, do you use some custom software from your mouse manufacturer. Example given: sometimes Logitech mouse come with special software to operate the mouse scroll wheel and lateral/horizontal buttons.
