unable to delete tag containers under "most used tags" / "recently used tags"

I'm attempting to delete these from the places organizer, using the delete menu item under the organize menu.

in my console, I get:

Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80070057 (NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE) [nsINavBookmarksService.getItemType]"  nsresult: "0x80070057 (NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE)"  location: "JS frame :: file:///c:/Documents%20and%20Settings/work/Desktop/trunk/components/nsPlacesTransactionsService.js :: placesRemoveItemTransaction :: line 399"  data: no]
Source File: file:///c:/Documents%20and%20Settings/work/Desktop/trunk/components/nsPlacesTransactionsService.js
Line: 399

I haven't investigated, but I think this will be related to the bugs about deleting day / host containers in the history sidebar.

see also deb's bug about the assertion (bug #400109) when trying to do this from a context menu.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
