Have you tried:
- Firefox's safe-mode to exclude extension/theme problems
- a new profile
- a reinstall in a new EMPTY folder
- disabling Java plugin in Tools -> Options -> Content?

I'm not sure whether my problem is related. After installation of update to FF2.0.0.8 (German) it installs the Google Toolbar. During first start it works o.k., but when closed and started again, FF is no longer able to get to my provider (DSL). It either reports that it cannot find the page, or it prompts me with user "admin" for some password. Obviously some data in the Apllications folder (Mozilla) gets screwed up. By deleting the Mozilla-Folder I can again start FF and surf the web, but after a close- and reopen it again fails to get through to the Internet. Would like to go back to 2.0.0.7. Where can I get it?

Heinrich, this is most likely a firewall problem. You needto reconfigure your firewall for the updated version. The permission given for Firefox 2.0.0.7 or earlier will not do for Firefox 2.0.0.8.
