400586 - unfolded "folder location" drop down menu too narrow

I tried to use the folder location menu item (customize -> drag it to a menu bar), but found that the unfolding menu that lists the folders to select from, is too narrow. Eg. I have subscribed to a number of  news groups (100?), and only a short prefix of their names appear on the menu. The rest of the name is not displayed, making this folder selector largely unusable for me. Perhaps the menu width could be adjusted so as to accommodate the longest entry in the menu.

First, 
component should go from General to Mail Window Front End
OS could be All (not particular for linu IMO)
version 2.0

the drop down menu could be resolved 2 ways:
-to adapt to the longest string/name in width
-to have a dragable resize corner in the bottom right, like in the google toolbar dropdown

Both solutions should consider the drop down area to exceed width outside the box on the toolbar in the right, so that it does not make the toolbar item wider. Not sure if this can be achieved with today's way of structuring elements in a dropdown.

workarounds:
1.there is this alt text that gives the whole name for long folders, but for news is not for me ..
2.use mailTweak extension  with options for auto hide folder pane, considering that the idea is not to have folder pane eat up space.
3.change folder location menu width:
add to userChrome.css or stylish extension

and change 240px to a convenient bigger or smaller
(for userChrome use, see TB site and mozillazine
for stylish extension, search in TB extensions site
I would recommend stylish to easy tweak and, maybe when final, get it to css)

confirming. I see this as more of a problem for deeply nested folders than newsgroups.
