I'll get to this ASAP. This will be the first (main?) part involved in
getting bugs 3802, 4002, and 4003 fixed.

Done. There will certainly need to be additional platform-specific
tweaks as (if...) we add additional platforms to the nightly build
process in the future. But it works for Solaris and probably Linux
for now. Also, when the ns tree is ready, another simple step will
need to be added, but that will be trivial.
