401518 - File download fails - incorrect path generated, error message appears

Clicking on a file to download causes an error dialog to appear. I have always ask me where to save files selected, but it doesn't, and generates an error message like the following.
 The problem seems to have occurred ever since I installed leopard and configured firefox to download to /users/<account>/Downlaods, though i have since selected a different directory.

Downloading /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk/usr/X11/include/X11/Xaw/TreeP.h/peeerf3qj.csv

/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk/usr/X11/include/X11/Xaw/TreeP.h/peeerf3qj.csv could not be saved, because an unknown error occurred.

Try saving to a different location.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to a site with a file to download
2.click on the download
3.Get error message
Actual Results:  
I get the dialog mentioned above with the error message:

Try saving to a different location.

Expected Results:  
File download starts like it did with Tiger

Tried originally w/ 2.0.0.8, downloaded 2.0.0.9 rc to see if it still happens, and it does.
Problem happens whether i have a specific director to download pre-chosen, or configured firefox to ask every time.
