User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.8) Gecko/20071008 Firefox/2.0.0.8 Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.6 (20070728) On an intermittent but increasingly frequent basis, outgoing messages appear to fail to send from the Thunderbird software installed on my computer. In at least a number of those cases (and perhaps all), those messages actually do go out but they stay in "composed" mode on my computer, even if I receive a BCC: copy from/to myself! When I go to my email provider site on the Internet, I can send messages from "webmail" with absolutely no problems. I have reinstalled Thunderbird, but it didn't help. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Send email 2.If it gives an error message, try to send again 3.If it doesn't give an error message, send email from the Internet "webmail" site, in this case, webmail.texas.net Actual Results: Some emails did not have error messages, but some did have error messages, such as "fail to connect to smtp-server". In addition, it took 15-20 seconds for the successful messages to go out, whereas in the past they went out in around 5-10 seconds. Expected Results: The software should have sent every message out promptly and without failures. This bug keeps me from using Thunderbird to send out messages. I may be forced to use other email software.
Please create an SMTP log and attach it to this bug report. http://email.about.com/od/mozillathunderbirdtips/qt/et_mail_log.htm

That's from a session where it went well, isn't it? We want a log for where you got an error message...
That's correct. By the way, I haven't responded since November 5 because I've been out of town. When I got back into town, my outgoing mail was working fine. I just found out last night that the outgoing mail server had indeed had problems, but nobody working there (i.e., Time Warner Cable) would admit it! Sorry to bother you with a problem that wasn't caused by Mozilla. However, I do want to ask whether I should continue to generate a log for Thunderbird. If I don't need to, could you send instructions or a link so that I'll know how to disable it? I can't find the link that you sent on how to enable it. Otherwise, I probably could have figured out the commands. Sorry about that, too!

The logging is only enabled for that session or is the logfile still created after you deleted it ?

The old log was still there, but there was no recent activity. I was hoping to get the link to the site that had the instructions for setting it up, in case the problem ever comes back.
Hello, The emails I send using Thunderbirds to do not reach their destination. I don't receive any error messages, the only clue would be that the delay for processing the messages to be sent is very long. But The reception works very well. My webmail account is on Yahoo.fr. Thank you, Jean-Baptiste
