User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en; rv:1.8.1.9pre) Gecko/20071103 Camino/1.6a1pre (like Firefox/2.0.0.9pre)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en; rv:1.8.1.9pre) Gecko/20071103 Camino/1.6a1pre (like Firefox/2.0.0.9pre)

When I go to the versiontracker.com website, it won't load in. I usually get the 404 Not Found error. Safari, Opera, etc. will bring in this site.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
Same issue with Camino trunk, with Bon Echo (20071103 BonEcho/2.0.0.9pre, 1.8.1 nightly builds), and with Minefield trunk builds.

If I spoof the UA of FX 2.0.0.9 (tested with the BonEcho build)
"Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.9) Gecko/20071025 Firefox/2.0.0.9"
I can get through.

This sounds like browser detection gone bad.

Unless something changed in Gecko, both Branch and Trunk.
With Minefield and Bon Echo builds, and Camino (v1.6a1pre), all dated 20071031, I can get in there no problems. With builds starting 1101, access fails.

Nothing interesting in Gecko changed both places in that period; in fact, there were no Gecko checkins on the branch: http://tinyurl.com/yqqqwq

I'm also seeing some hits to http://yui.yahooapis.com when I do get through, and the Yahoo toolkit is known to only work correctly with Firefox and not Gecko.

I also see some security/JS errors, though:

Security Error: Content at http://image.versiontracker.com/_js/common.js?v=6 may not load data from http://versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/31762.
JavaScript error: http://image.versiontracker.com/_js/common.js?v=6, line 167: document.getElementById(elementID) has no properties

I'm pretty sure this is a broken website at this point, but I'm not sure *what* is broken about it exactly, nor how to prove it :(
Browser detection in the pudding...
Spoofing the latest BonEcho build as
Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.9) Gecko/20071102 Firefox/2.0.0.9
Fails !
See: the only difference with the official Fx 2009 UA string in there is the date (set to 200711xx).
Am I reading that correctly: VT is failing when the Gecko date is any day in November 2007?

Yup. If the UA string contains 200711xx, I can't load the site. Even with the very official FX 2009/Camino 1.5.3. Some server side redirect(s) going wrong. I can load that site with the latest Minefield/Camino Trunk just fine with any Gecko UA string that contain 20071031 or lower.
Mind you, I haven' tried with something like 20090101 or the like... Who knows where I end up then :-).

Since this is a problem with Firefox as well, and we know what's causing it (or at least, how to trigger it reliably), and that trigger isn't in Gecko or Camino code, I'm kicking this to TE and confirming it.

Tweaking summary to conform to TE guidelines.

I sent an email to webmaster@versiontracker.com making him aware of this bug and the discussion in the Camino forum.
The site is apparently loading fine right now, with all the latest builds: Camino Trunk 2.0a1 / Branch 1.6a1 and BonEcho & Minefield builds (all dated 20071110).
