Everytime I download/refresh (readonly?) calenders from icalx.com, or restart Sunbird, old alarms that already have been dismissed reoccur. However, not all old alarms reappers.

I can't see any pattern for which events/alarms this applies too (maybe events where the original alarm has been postponed?).

Do you have write access to the calendar? Otherwise Sunbird can't store the information that the events are dismissed/snoozed.
No, but iCal handles this exact situation so I think Sunbird should too.
