User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.8.1.8) Gecko/20071015 SUSE/2.0.0.8-1.1 Firefox/2.0.0.8 Build Identifier: 0.8pre & lightning-0.7.linux-i686.xpi & lightning-0.3.1-x86_64.xpi & lightning-0.7-tb-linux.xpi & thunderbird-2.0.0.6.tar.gz & 32&64bit RPMs for SUSE10.3 After install of Lightning, no calendar file is available, and unable to be created when the Thunderbird directory is not in the default location (ie user profile/.thunderbird/xxxxxx.default). If I move my data to this location and install Lightning- it works fine. If I then copy it to a different location, does not work. Have tried on ext3 and fat32 file systems. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Move Thunderbird to a non-default location 2.Cannot then access/create calendar file. 3. Actual Results: No calendar file created. Expected Results: Created a calendar file (either automatically when xpi added, or manually when trying to add additional file. Using default install of Thunderbird apart from data location (ie no theme etc). Main distribution is SUSE10.3 64bit, but have also tried on Suse 10.2 32 bit. Appears to be Linux specific. Have tested with Vista and it works.
I would not suggest to just copy a profile from it's original location to a different location. This probably breaks every function that relies on a intact profile. Have you tried to create the profile in the new location instead? Start Thunderbird with parameter -P to start the Profile Manager. You can specify any desired profile location there.
Thanks for the suggestions.Have tried creating the new profiles and found: 1/ When created on an ext3 partition, works OK. 2/ When created on fat32, I have the issue. Have tried ensuring permissions are ok (not super brilliant at this!) and loading the partition in FSTAB as: /home/data vfat users,uid=1000,umask=000,utf8=true 0 0 where the uid is my logon, and I have full rw access to all files..... Open to suggestions....

Seems to be the same issue as in Bug 357493 than. According to Bug 357493 Comment #12 setting the "exec" flag fixed it.
Yep, that was it! Thanks. Sorry, I did search for the resolution here and google, but didn't come across the other bug.... BTW, I have successfully been copying Thunderbird data across partitions/disks/computers for a couple of years now (I Know - probably shouldn't!) and have never had an issue with it - just copy the data and edit profiles.ini appropriately... - one of the reasons I love thunderbird! ;-) I will now have to go and check the other Suse 10.2 PC I mentioned earlier as well - it doesn't even have a FAT32 partition that could have caused the problem. Again, thanks for your input.
