User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:18.104.22.168) Gecko/20071025 Firefox/22.214.171.124 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:126.96.36.199) Gecko/20071025 Firefox/188.8.131.52 Despite spending a great amount of time searching I have been unable to discover a means to install plugins for firefox but not for safari in a robust way. In OS X firefox appears to only search /Library/Internet Plugins and ~/Library/Internet Plugins in addition to the directories inside the bundle (which I assume will be deleted on upgrade). Gecko Plugin API documentation says that MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH enviornment variable will allow the user to specify an additional plugin directory on windows and unix. This should work on OS X as well (or something else accomplishing the same function). I tried and it fails to work If I'm missing something simple that will fix this I apoligize but if so the documentation is really lacking. The plugin documentation (http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/) goes into some depth about plugin directories on windows and unix but is silent on OS X. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Related problem Mac? Firefox 3.0 OS/2 port Warning: Path with tailoring blank in value of MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH is not working. At OS/2 command Interface the Set command delimits the string only by line end CF/LF. So it is possible to have a value with tailoring blank in value of MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH. set MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH=s:\root\subdir [CR/LF] set MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH=s:\root\subdir[CR/LF] Only the last version of the set command result Path working with Firefox 3.0 OS/2 port With "set MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH=s:\root\subdir [CR/LF]" no plugin are found!! kind regards Rainer
The plugin documentation > (http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/) goes into some depth about plugin directories > on windows and unix but is silent on OS X. The documentation is now in-depth on Mac OS X.
