The user has the most current patches on XP and the most current Thunderbird. Thunderbird talks with a current Cyrus imapd on a Fedora Core 5 server. I have six thunderbird users and no other user is reporting this problem. When clicking on a folder to see the folder's contents the user gets a message about the summary file not being able to be opened or a path is too long. The user must exit and restart thunderbird to clear the issue. This happens "every few minutes". I have tried removing the *.msf file (before I went to LISA '07), but no joy.

When the user receives this message no mail messages appear in the selected folder.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
No special setup nor special use that I have found yet.



No installed themes. The user does have lightening installed and sync'ing to Google calendar.

So is the path any special, very deep folder paths perhaps?

There is nothing I can tell about the path. The path is the typical windows path that Thunderbird uses when installed. I made no customizations when installing. The path is on a local, internal disk. I am at a conference at the moment and not able to confirm the location.

Are there special characters in the path (maybe because of the username) ?

Nothing special in the user's name. The userid is 'Heather' (case specific).

bug 462539 is only fixed in nightly b4pre builds (though I think it's better in b3 than it was in b2)

yeah. my bad. FWIW, beta 4 available in a couple weeks.

Mike seems to be gone. Mabye dupe of bug 462539, but lacking feedback since comment 4 I'm closing incomplete.  feel free to change if you test version 3.something
