I don't know if it was an anomaly or not, but Clear Private Data took a good 30 seconds to complete for me today. After you click on the button to do it, nothing happens. There should be some sort of visual indication that your action did something for those cases where it takes a noticeable amount of time. With the increased data storage that places gives, I would expect that to become a more common occurrence.

Clearing history in Places is indeed slow, due to the amount of data stored in the database (bug 395066 already improved it a lot).

I'm just nominating this because I saw that improvements to the Clear Private Data window were being considered for 3.1 Figured if someone was poking around in there maybe it would be a good time.
