STR
1. Have a Gmail account open in a tab
2. Look at the tab and observe that periodically it will say: This seems to be taking longer than usual.

If you are using a slow Internet connection, you can wait a bit longer for this page to finish loading, or just use basic HTML view for now.

If you are using your normal Internet connection and you usually get past this loading step without any problems, please refresh this page in your browser. If you continue to have trouble loading your account, please visit the help center for troubleshooting information.

I don't see this using Bon Echo nightly or safari, where I have Gmail tabs open there as well. in irc stephend says:weird that I don't see it in minefield or 2.0.0.10

This may likely be a Gmail issue, but wanted to file it in case it turned out to be something else. In their forums I was able to find users who recommended these URLs->try this url https://mail.google.com/mail/s/ or
https://mail.google.com/mail?nocheckbrowser

Moving this over to tech evangelism, there is a Mozillazine forum thread about this: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=604220 as well as http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,139761/article.html.

with today's minefield on linux. do we have a gmail contact?
fwiw, refreshing the page worked fine. It was when I tried my bookmark to mail.google.com that I initially got the error. I do have noscript installed but google.com is whitelisted.
I have a log of a session with a debug build which includes a number of warnings and errors that might be relevant:

WARNING: refusing to set request header: file /work/mozilla/builds/1.9.0/mozilla/content/base/src/nsXMLHttpRequest.cpp, line 2152

function eval must be called directly, and not by way of a function of another name

etc. I'm not sure of the sensitivity of the included urls, but would be happy to provide it to someone at google if it would help.

I haven't seen this as frequently on trunk as the day I reported it, I have only seen it once when I was on a wireless connection.
I'm seeing this fairly often with:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9b2pre) Gecko/2007121009 Minefield/3.0b2pre ID:2007121009

Usually occurs the first time I try to open gmail after a restart of the browser.

There's a google groups thread on this started by Google but I can't seem to post to it as they are doing some db maintenance and it's not taking my group join. (and you must be a member to post)

err, actually it's just broke in both fx3b1 and webkit and neither has useful output in the error/js console.
Commented there with a link here.
That's suspicious. I don't have any addons installed in one of my test profiles where I'm also able to see this bug with the latest trunk nightly build. I restarted multiple times without a change. Gmail still offers me the error page. It only works after I do a complete reload of the page (shift+reload).

Is there something wrong with the javascript code or is the cache faulty?
adding kev to this bug in case he has a contact in the Gmail team. It is interesting that Henrik is still seeing this error in the latest nightlies. This is definitely not a good user experience.
INCOMPLETE due to lack of activity since the end of 2009.
