404162 - Cannot open detached attachment

In recent trunk builds of Thunderbird you cannot open a detached attachment by double-clicking on it in the attachment pane (or using right-click > open). Instead the message pane is filled with an error message (layout similar to the "server not found" error page Firefox) saying:
"The file /home/chsc/Desktop/tmp/brk2.jpg&filename=brk2.jpg cannot be found. Please check the location and try again."

This works in Thunderbird 2.0.0.9.

It looks as if this regression was introduced with the fix for bug 358657:
