When there is more than one message with heavy attachments, if I click to download the entire message, I MUST wait to end the first to begin the next.
It would be nice if (as in Firefox) we could download MANY at the same time, preferencially with a Download Manager Window to monitor the progress.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have more than one heavy attachment (Ex two e-mails having more than 1 MB file attached)
2. Start downloading the first one
3. Try downloading the second one: the first download is LOST.
Actual Results:
You can only download an attachment at time

Expected Results:
If you have more than one e-mail and asked to OPEN IN A NEW WINDOW, it was expected a SEPARETED thread downloading all of them SIMULTANEOUSLY...
Severity: normal → enhancement
We use the same download manager as firefox... In what way to you "download" them. Double click to open, save as or what?
Was there any changes after version 2.0b1 in this point ?

Please, tell me how to view the progress of simultaneous downloads. At least in 2.0b1 it was not working. I don't know now, that I upgrade to 2.0.0.9
Can't recall... For large attachments the download manager will pop up, at least for Save As.
Hi Magnus

I am using TB 2.0.0.9 and nothing pops-up here when a huge download is done. Neither even for Save as, because this action only works after the download was done, not before it...

I tried to use Save As in the icon before downloading the message and got a bug:

There was a .doc file attachment of 1.39MB.
The message showed normally the Header with "click here to get the full message" and there was a WinWord mymetype icon, even with the fileName aside, all of this before I downloaded the full message.

Results:
I right-clicked the Word icon and chose "Save as..." to see if the Download Manager "poped" and instead, a new bug poped: it saved a .doc file with 4KB (the minimum of a normal .doc file is about 19KB) I mean, a corrupted and unusable WinWord file.

The bug is: if the attachment was NOT completelly download THE CONTEXT MENU (with Save As... option) should NOT appear, or it HAD to be disabled to prevent such a mistake.

If I am wrong, please tell me what I am doing wrong.

Regards.
It looks like the reporter is saying that Thunderbird should retrieve messages using more than one thread, not that it only saves one attachment to disk at a time (which is the part that uses the download manager, and which works, at least up to two simultaneous downloads).

I'm pretty sure I saw another bug related to that last night, but I can't find it now... So, I'm going to change the subject to match what I think the request is, and hope that someone else can find the dup, or mark this as new (or otherwise address it).
Summary: Can't have multiple attachments download at the same time → Can't retrieve multiple messages in one folder at the same time
Sergio, what's the behavior in version 24?
