User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9b2pre) Gecko/2007111505 Minefield/3.0b2pre Build Identifier: In the Beta 1 Release Notes, under the section 'More Personal', the sentence 'Smart Places Folder' currently reads: "... as well as you more frequently visited pages ..."; should be 'your'. Also, the spacing between bullet points seems to be different between 'More Security' & 'Easier to Use' and the three sections below that ('More Personal', 'Improved Platform for Developers' and 'Improved Performance'). Two more minor nitpicks: 'One click' under the 'More Security' heading should probably be hyphenated. And under 'Easier to Use' > 'Text selection improvements'; 'Multiple', 'Double-click' and 'Triple-clicking' shouldn't be capitalised. Also, I think it might be good to bold the sentence "Please note that installing Firefox 3 Beta 1 will overwrite your existing installation of Firefox." under the 'Installing Firefox 3 Beta 1' heading, just to emphasise that people should be careful. And how about suggesting making a backup of your profile before installing the beta? (Always a good idea in my opinion, and the location of the profile folder is detailed in the 'Removing Firefox 3 Beta 1' section below.) Reproducible: Always

WONTFIX, as that's not true. By default we install in a different directory. > And how about suggesting making a backup of your profile before installing the > beta? (Always a good idea in my opinion, and the location of the profile > folder is detailed in the 'Removing Firefox 3 Beta 1' section below.) Not necessary. There's some strangeness moving between profiles, but we don't really have good tools here, and I don't want to point people at it. In most cases, this will just work.

Thanks for reviewing the suggestions I made. I just looked at the revised Beta 1 (and Beta 2) release notes and I noticed a few things that I missed before. (Not sure whether I should file a new bug or is it OK to continue this one?) I noticed five instances where the third-person 'user(s)' is used, rather than 'you' and 'your' which otherwise seem to be the standard throughout. Under 'More Security'/'More Secure': "Malware Protection: malware protection warns users when they arrive at sites which are known to install viruses, spyware, trojans or other malware. You can test it here (note: our blacklist of malware sites is not yet activated)." Under 'Easier to Use': "Resumable downloading: users can now resume downloads after restarting the browser or resetting your network connection." and "Save what you were doing: Firefox will prompt users to save tabs on exit." and "Plugin management: users can disable individual plugins in the Add-on Manager." Under 'Improved Performance': "Reliability: A user's bookmarks, history, cookies, and preferences are now stored in a transactionally secure database format which will prevent data loss even if their system crashes." How about instead: "Malware Protection: malware protection warns you if you arrive at a site which is known to install viruses, spyware, trojans or other malware. You can test it here (note: our blacklist of malware sites is not yet activated)." (my suggested wording is slightly different other than the users/you change here) "Resumable downloading: you can now resume downloads after restarting the browser or resetting your network connection." and "Save what you were doing: Firefox will now prompt you to save any open tabs on exit." (I suggest also adding 'now' and 'any open' as well as the users/you change) and "Plugin management: you can now disable individual plugins in the Add-on Manager." (I suggest also adding 'now') "Reliability: Your bookmarks, history, cookies, and preferences are now stored in a transactionally secure database format which will prevent data loss even if your system crashes." And also one nitpicky grammar thing, under 'Improved Platform for Developers': "New graphics and font handling: new graphics and text rendering architectures in Gecko 1.9 provides rendering improvements in CSS, SVG as well as improved display of fonts with ligatures and complex scripts." Given that it's architecture*s*, how about 'provide'? :)
Normally, we would want another bug, but your issues are long and already enumerated here, so I'll reopen this bug.

OK, I have actually filed another bug on the release notes, suggesting adding a warning about phishing protection: bug 408960.
Mike, can we close this?
