40473 - font size no longer displayed as selected in menulist

this is a regression from y'day. tested using opt comm bits 2000.05.24.08.

to see this, open the Prefs, select the Fonts category. observe that there the
selected font size is not displayed in the three font menulists. only the little
arrow is there.

notes: able to dropdown the menulists and select a font size (which is written
to prefs.js, etc.). but there isn't any highlighting/selection that "sticks"
visually in the UI.

The patch attached to 40640 has hard coded width values which is not acceptable. 
 Assigning this to myself to find the best soln.

I saw this on linux, WinNT looked ok, depends on
the fonts sizes you have set.

looks good! verif using opt commercial bits 2000.05.31.08 on all/all.
