I assume that each user has it's own Thunderbird profile. You can't see the tasks from another users profile except you setup a shared calendar. What calendar type do you use?

Hi Stefan, yes, every user has its own profile. From Jin Shi's step,it doesn't mean the root user can see the tasks created by a normal user. The calendar is local calendar(Create on your computer).
After investigation, this bug's root cause is at the start date of task. If the start date is missing, it won't show the task in the calendar.
When login as root user, the task will be created without start date and due date by default.
While login in as normal user, the task will be created with start date is today.

Emily,
that might be due to a preference setting to enable alarms for tasks by default. If this preference is set, a start date is automatically assigned to the task upon creation.

Or due to different versions of Lightning for the root and the user-account. As these are seperate profiles they don't use the same install of TB. INVALID?

According to Comment #2 I'd said it's a duplicate of Bug 349529.
The different behavior in the different profiles is caused by the difference preferences as mentioned in Comment #3.
