Livemarks seem to be very powerful and I think Places Organizer would deserve a special lace for them. I'm thinking about a special "root" (like "Tags") for feeds. Inside this root, lifemarks could be put and opened similar to tags: the items in that livemark would display in the upper right pane.
This currently works when I just create my own "Feeds" folder in Places.
The interesting bit would be a special handling in the bottom right pane for livemark items. displaying name and URL is fine, but IMHO tags are not really needed here (or will lifemark feeds be saved infinitely?). What we would need is a preview area for the feed item.
This would transform places into a great feed reader, eliminating the need to have another app just for this.

This is a great idea for an add-on. Firefox has not expanded it's RSS reading functionality intentionally, to focus on it's core competencies.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".
In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.
Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
