Seeing bug 215661, bug 213945 and bug 258249, people want much more flexibility in the mail window layout.  I have another one: on the large screens available now, it would be nice to have the three pane view with the messages in the middle, since that is the most comfortable place to read them:

F=Folder list, P=Preview pane, M=messages list

But of course, the ideal would be if this were fully customizable.  That is, provide anchors on the individual windows, and make them draggable, much like it is in Eclipse, or on Facebook.
