User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b1) Gecko/2007110904 Firefox/2.0.0.9 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b1) Gecko/2007110904 Firefox/3.0B1 When a server sends a 3XX response and the redirect takes place, the bookmark is overwritten. Sometimes a server sends these redirects only temporarily and then a will go back to it's default behavior. Clicking my bookmarks is essentially deleting them when the server sends these types of responses. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Visit a page that changes response codes sometimes 2. Bookmark it while it's working normally 3. Click the bookmark while the server's sending redirects Actual Results: Removes the original URL from the bookmark Expected Results: Bookmark should point to the URL I enter or bookmark I can see why this was implemented, the 'moved permanently' response code is probably what the sites are sending. Updating the bookmarks would prevent a redirect from happening on the next visit. Unfortunately not all sites use the headers properly and this is basically deleting my bookmarks.

essentially the reverse of Bug 213467, since in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=213467#c25 Betlzner proposed an UI solution this could also be marked as duplicates of that (changing the title to reflect new requirements) however that is something that should be fixed on servers

Bulk closing all UNCONFIRMED bugs dealing with places that haven't had any bug activity in over 120 days, have no votes, and are not enhancement requests. If you are still experiencing this issue in Firefox 3.0 or later, please re-open the bug with steps to reproduce (if they were not part of the original comment).

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
