Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11
Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.9 (20071031)

Normally, pressing the Enter key while a message subject is highlighted opens a message. If the list of messages in a folder is threaded, (View -> Sort by -> Threaded), pressing the Enter key also expands/collapses a tree if the first message is highlighted.

The Enter key shouldn't do both at the same time.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Group a folder of messages by conversation (View -> Sort by -> Threaded)
2. Highlight the first message in a thread
3. Press Enter
Actual Results:
If the tree started expanded, the tree will collapse AND the message will open.
If the tree started collapsed, the tree will expand AND the message will open.

Expected Results:
The Enter key should only open messages; it should not affect whether a tree is expanded or collapsed. The left and right arrow keys expand/collapse trees, so they are sufficient. Clicking the little "+" and "-" button next to a tree is also sufficient.

I often want to read each message in a discussion one at a time, so I start by expanding a tree and pressing Enter to open the first message. This also collapses the tree, which means I have to expand it again to select the second message. It's very annoying.
