Tab browsing is no longer opening a bookmark in a new tab. I can manually open a tab and then load a bookmark in that tab. 

I have tried re-installation to fix this problem to no avail.

Bookmarks open in the current tab. If previously Firefox opened new tabs when clicking on bookmarks it is because you had an extension installed. You can either find the extension again on https://addons.mozilla.org or get in the habit of ctrl clicking or middle clicking on the bookmark to have it open in a new tab.
