It seems as though if Firefox crashes in the middle of virus scanning a download, the download will never go away from the list. It remains "trapped" in the sqlite database until it's manually removed. I don't know if it's related to my virus scanner (AVG Free) or if it's actually a problem with Firefox itself.

Can't block until we get a confirmation. Marcia or Stephen, can you spend some time and see if you can reproduce this, and if so, renominate?
Flags: blocking-firefox3?
Seems as though I've actually managed to reproduce it on another computer. I was downloading a fairly large file (about 500MB) and it finished downloading then crashed while it was scanning for viruses. Now this file is stuck "Scanning for Viruses" in the download manager. Since I've done it before, I know how to manually remove it but I didn't actually manage to reproduce this again on a totally different computer (still with Windows XP Professional).
