Mozill cannot open the file named "UTF-8 Yanasa Software - éÔé+é¦èöÄ«ë´Äð.htm" on my Russian Windows 2000. (The file is on an NTFS volume).
IE and other software has no problems with it.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get the file named "UTF-8 Yanasa Software - éÔé+é¦èöÄ«ë´Äð.htm"
2. Open it via the Windows Explorer (double-click).
3. Firefox gives an error message.

This is with Firefox 2.0.0.x right? The file name only includes characters from the Cyrillic alphabet? Just wondering because this bug here looks a bit like Bug 162361, but that bug should be fixed in FF 2.0.0.x.

I saw strange characters, so I was not sure if this wasn't just some charset encoding error on Bugzilla's or your side.

Happens here, too, on Windows 2000 ENG, Firefox 1.5.0.12:

- rename some other file to "UTF-8 Yanasa Software - éÔé+é¦èöÄ«ë´Äð.htm" in Windows Explorer
- associate .htm extension with Firefox and double-click the file OR just drag it into Firefox window
- Firefox tries to open file://.../UTF-8%20Yanasa%20Software%20-%20eOe+e%A6eoA%ABe%3FA%3F.htm and fails:
"Firefox can't find the file at /C:/TEMP/UTF-8 Yanasa Software - eOe+e¦eoA«e?A?.htm."
- note that umlauts are gone.

This bug was originally reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.6 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.8 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
