Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11 Build Identifier: Eudora 8.0.0b2 (Eudora 3.0a1pre in Finder Info; Eudora-8.0.0b2.en-US.mac.dmg) I installed Eudora 8.0.0b2 on my Mac (drag to /Applications) and it opened my existing Thunderbird Profile (I expected to get a blank profile and need to import) Unfortunately I had not made a recent backup of my Profile , and Eudora killed the spell checker, and the icons for listing columns "Status" and "Priority". I actually prefer the strings like "Read" and "Replied" to the ambiguous icons, but now I'm wondering what else got messed up. Reproducible: Didn't try Actual Results: Eudora used and deleteriously modified Thunderbird default Profile settings. Expected Results: New install of Eudora should ask whether to use existing or new Profile.
I'm afraid this might be a 'too bad', but I'll leave this bug open to see how many votes it gets. Matt

I'd have to agree that installing a newer version "should ask whether to use existing or new Profile". Certainly, it should NOT overwrite settings without consulting the user if a profile IS found....
