Details

Thunderbird should have a status page for monitoring problems. It should list all accounts, the last time Thunderbird checked them for new mails/feed items, the last time Thunderbird got new mails/feed items from it, show problems like 404 for feeds and the quota of the mail account if supported.

Virtual identities should be supported.
Nominating for blocking-thunderbird3 because if a POP3 server doesn't respond or refuses the connection (i.e. mail checked too often), the user will only see this if he types the passwords on launch and the problem already exists at this time. If it does, the user has to drop the automatic fetching of mails from this server for this session.
Flags: blocking-thunderbird3?
I don't think this would block, but there is work being done on a better 'activity log' which I think would help alleviate some of the problems here. See e.g. http://clarkbw.net/blog/2008/06/04/activity-is-the-new-download/
