Can not drag and drop pictures (I am copying book jacket covers from bn.com) into another application like Word or in my case Alexandria (library automation software). Worked fine in Beta 1 but not Beta 2. The item does drag onto desktop, but appears in different area of the screen adding needless steps to process.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Do to bn.com search for any book title
2. attempt to drag book cover into Word or Appleworks
3.
Expected Results:
book cover pictures should drag and drop into any application

I also get this on OSX Leopard and FF3 final, dragging any image onto the desktop does copy the file, but fails to place it correctly on the desktop the way Safari does.
I end up copying images three or four times thinking it didnt work and my desktop is getting really cluttered as a result

This is a mass search for bugs that are in the Firefox General component, are
UNCO, and have not been changed for 800 days and have an unspecified version.
Reporter, can you please update to Firefox 3.6.10, create a fresh profile,
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles, and test again. If you
still see the bug, please update this bug. If the issue is gone, please set the
resolution to RESOLVED > WORKSFORME.

Still happening
I was hoping this would get fixed with the move from OSX Carbon to OSX cocoa,
but its still the same, images dropped on the desktop always appear up in the
top right somewhere.

The bug still exists in Firefox 4.
BTW: The drag'n'drop behaviour was working as expected in Firefox 2 which I keep using for this very reason.

Is this bug still reproducible in the latest release?

Yes, using Firefox 44.0.1 the effect is still the same: drag'n'drop of an image from Firefox onto the desktop places the image in some default location but not where I dropped it at. (I'm not anymore using Firefox 2 as a workaround, though. Another browser it is.)

Okay, can you also confirm this bug with the latest Nightly?
https://nightly.mozilla.org/
Component should be Shell Integration here.

That's fine, but not the point this bug report is about. The issue is that images which are dragged to the desktop don't stay where they are dropped but the images are placed to some arbitrarily free place on the desktop. This is (a) annoying and (b) making people like me (who care about finding their images again) use another browser.

Ah, I see, Safari leaves the image where it was dropped. Where as the image is snapped to grid in Nightly/Firefox.
