Summary: Magnifying glass should initiate search on click In an 11/13/07 email to most of the folks who'll get bugmail for this, I asked: "1) Is the magnifying glass clickable?", and Madhava replied: "Yes - like hitting enter, clicking here will initiate the search." Currently, clicking it doesn't do anything special (likely because it's a CSS-background image, or something...)
We decided to move the magnifying glass to the left side so people /wouldn't/ try to click it and add a button instead. Not sure about the button's status.
Yes, I remember this being a "can'tfix" which is why we did move it to the left. Closing, but feel free to reopen if I am wrong.
