409639 - ExpLabs LinkScanner 2.6.5.86 causes searching in Google to crash

On the start page,if I want to do a search and type in a subject and hit the search button if closes Firefox. This only started about a week ago. Worked fine before. Using Firefox 2.0.0.11. Windows offers the followning error msg:

Someware I read that Searchshield.dll is not part of Firefox.

Yeah; I'd fire up SpyBot or some anti-spyware program.  Whatever "Searchshield.dll" is, it's not something we (Mozilla) ship in Firefox.

The first think that you should do if somethign doesn`t work with Firefox is that you start it in the safemode. You will see that it works in the safemode and that means that it must be an extension, in this case the linkscanner extension which caused crashes for many people.

There was an issue with our
2.6.5 add-on to Firefox. This issue has now been resolved with the release of
version 2.7. I have been running 2.7 and Firefox, with no problems.
If you are having issues, please let us know. Please include any error
messages you are receiving, as well as the versions of Firefox and Windows,
that you are running.

Could we blacklist 2.6.5 or force people to update or something?

In fact running Firefox in Safe Mode prevents the crash. I'm guessing that searchshield.dll is part of SystemSuite 8 by Avanquest. This seems to scan sites for spy/mal-ware. Thanks for the help.
