User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b2) Gecko/2007121016 Firefox/3.0b2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b2) Gecko/2007121016 Firefox/3.0b2 When you start typing in a new entry in the Location bar, the following happens. Say, I am entering "en.wikipedia.org" * The moment I enter the first character ('e'), it is highlighted (orange, in Ubuntu) * Now if I continue typing, the character is replaced with the next character ('n' in this case). * So, the final typed entry would be - n.wikipedia.org So, I have to either go back to the first position and type the entry or wait for the URL to show up from the drop-down (history/bookmarks) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start typing in a new location in the Location bar 2.See what happens when the first character is entered 3.Keep typing - which erases the first character Expected Results: The whole URL whould be there in the location bar I am using a downloaded tarball on a regularly updated Ubuntu 7.10 box. $ uname -a Linux kautilya 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Dec 18 08:02:57 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux Addons ------ Adblock Plus 0.7.5.3 Dom Inspector - 1.9b2 Scrapbook - 1.3.2.2 Session Manager - 0.6.1.6 Themes ------ Firefox(default) 2.0 Plugins ------- Default Plugin
Note : This happens only when you do it for the first time in a new tab/window. If you delete the contents of the location bar and do it, it works fine. If you switch to a different tab and come back, the problem appears again

This is a duplicate of bug 406360, which is already fixed on trunk. It only happens when browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll is set to true, so this also explains your problem reported in bug 409935.
